The Lotus Six

Designed by a young Colin Chapman whilst he was still employed by the British Aluminium Company, was equally at home on the road or circuit.

Produced from 1953 to 1957, only 100 were made, but still this was a large number in the early Lotus days.

Designed around a tubular space frame chassis, with riveted aluminium sides and pre-stressed floor,  the whole chassis only weighed 55 lbs.

Supplied in kit form, the purchaser would have to add his own new or used Ford parts to complete the car.

The relatively soft suspension and rigid chassis gave the car exceptional road holding, making it extremely competitive.
